A KIRIGAMI FLOWER
This is an explanation of making a kirigami flower.
Step 1:
This square piece of paper is for the center of the flower.
Both sides of the paper are coloured.
Make a valley-fold over the yellow line.
Step 2:
Roll up the model by laying the piece that is indicated
with the arrow over the backside of the piece that
is indicated with the yellow dot.
Step 3:
Keep holding the model like this until step 5, otherwise
it will open by itself.
Push the piece at the arrow to the inside.
Step 4:
Push the pieces at the 2 arrows to the inside too.
Step 5:
Now the model looks like this.
Push the piece at the arrow down.
Step 6:
Flatten the bottom of the model by pressing on it
from both sides with your fingers.
Step 7:
The center of the flower is ready...
Step 8:
This paper is for a petal of the flower.
Use a rectangular piece of paper. Only one side
of the paper needs to be coloured.
Make a valley-fold over the yellow line.
Step 9:
Make a mountain-fold over the 2 yellow lines.
Make these folds over the upper layer of the model.
Step 10:
Make the same fold as in step 9 over the other layer
of the model, see arrows.
Step 11:
Make an inside reverse fold on the 2 corners at the arrows.
Do this by making a mountain-fold over the upper layer
and a valley-fold over the layer below.
Press the corners at the arrows to the right (and a bit
downwards) while you make these folds.
Step 12:
Add glue to the inside of the open side of the petal
(below, on the right) and glue the 2 ends together.
Make 6 of these petals for one flower.
Step 13:
This paper is for the leafs of the flower.
Use a rectangular piece of paper.
Make a valley-fold over the yellow line.
Unfold this fold after you made it.
Step 14:
Make an inside reverse fold over the 3 yellow lines.
Do this by making a valley-fold over the 2 long lines
and a mountain-fold over the short line in the middle.
Make the same inside reverse fold on the piece that
is indicated with the yellow arrow.
Step 15:
Make a mountain-fold over the 2 yellow lines. Make these
folds over the upper layer of the model.
Make the same folds as above over the bottom layer
of the model.
Step 16:
The open side of the leaf will be glued on a stem later.
(see yellow arrow)
Step 17:
3 to 5 of these leafs are used for one flower with stem.
Step 18:
Add glue to the place indicated with the arrow on the
right and glue it to the center-piece of the flower, see
the arrow on the left.
Glue 6 petals to the center of the flower as explained
above. In the next picture is showed how the
6 petals are arranged.
Step 19:
The flower is ready...

Step 20:
Take a green bendable metal wire.
Curl the end at the arrow.

Step 21:
Curl the end at the arrow to the front.
Step 22:
Add glue to the top of the curled end. Glue a flower
to the end by pressing the bottom of the flower against it.
Step 23:
Curl the upper-part of the stem a bit.
Step 24:
If you like, you can curl the bottom of the stem
a bit too.
Step 25:
Add glue to the inside of the open end of a leaf
(see arrow) and glue it to the stem.
Glue 3 to 5 leafs to one stem.
The flower is ready!
Make about 20 of these flowers with stem and leafs.
Make the stems of various lenght.
Take a vase and put foam in it. Then, insert the stems
in the foam. Insert the long stems on the back and the
shorter stems on the front.
Origami-sand is placed on top of the foam.
