Origami Archaeopteryx (flying dinosaur) diagrams
I really like the bright colorful paper I used for
this model, it does make the dino look better
Step
1:
This is the front of the paper,
turn the paper
Step
2:
Prefold over these 4 lines
Step
3:
First, valley-fold over the 2 lines at the bottom-right.
Then mountain-fold over the 2 diagonal lines in the
middle. And valley-fold over the 2 lines at the top left.
Step
4:
Pull the flap indicated by the pink arrow upwards
Step
5:
Squash fold the flap
Step
6:
Valley-fold over these 2 lines
Step
7:
Unfold the folds of step 6
Step
8:
Pull the edge indicated by the pink arrow downwards
by making a valley-fold over the yellow line
Step
9:
Push the edges downwards, see arrows
Step
10:
Valley-fold the triangular flap upwards
Step
11:
Repeat steps 5 to 10 on the other 3 flaps,
see pink arrows
Step
12:
Pull the 2 ends outwards, in the direction of the
arrows.
Step
13:
Valley-fold the triangular flap to the inside
of the model
Step
14:
Push the 2 ends towards each other again
Step
15:
Repeat steps 12 to 14 one more time
on the left, see pink arrow
Step
16:
Bookfold 2 edges to the left
Step
17:
Make an inside reverse fold over these 3 lines
Step
18:
Repeat step 17 on the little flap at the left,
see large pink arrow.
And bookfold the 2 edges to the right again,
see smaller arrow

19:
Bookfold one layer to the left
Step
20:
Valley-fold over this line
Step
21:
Bookfold one layer to the right
Step
22:
Repeat steps 20 and 21 on the flap at the left
(mirror-wise), see arrow

Mountain-fold over these 2 lines

Turn the model
Step

Valley-fold over these 2 lines

Press the 2 little flaps flat between your fingers
by making a valley-fold over the yellow lines.
Then valley-fold them upwards over the 2
pink lines.

Push/fold the 2 little flaps a little to the left,
see pink arrows

Turn the model
Step

Mountain-fold over these 2 lines.
Step

Mountain-fold over this line
Step
31:
Hold the model the same as I do.
Then, push the tip downwards by making
a valley-fold over the line on the left and
a mountain-fold over the line on the right.
Make the same folds on the other side
(mirror-wise)

Pull the flap indicated by the arrow downwards
Step
33:
Valley-fold over this line
Step
34:
Now the head looks like this

Valley-fold over these 2 lines
Step
36:
Press these 2 edges inwards from aside,
see pink arrows.
Step
37:
Valley-fold the edge indicated by the arrow
upwards

38:
Bend/fold/curl the tip of the wing downwards,
see arrow
Step
39:
Repeat steps 37 and 38 on the other wing,
see pink arrow
