Bonsai Origami Branch with
Flowers
This
bonsai plant goes in a set of 10 Bonsai Origami flowers which I
designed for a book.
Step
1:
This 6x6inch paper is for the flowers,
prefold over these 4 lines.
Then turn the paper
Step
2:
First valley-fold over the 2 lines at the
bottom
right. Then mountain-fold over the
2
diagonal lines in the middle. And
valley-fold over the 2 lines at the top-left.
Step
3:
Valley-fold
over these 2 lines.
Step
4:
Unfold the folds of step 3
Step
5:
Valley-fold the end at the bottom of the
arrow
upwards.
Step
6:
Push/press the edges indicated by the
arrows flat
Step
7:
Valley-fold the flap downwards
Step
8:
Repeat steps 3 to 7 on the backside
Step
9:
Prefold over these 2 lines
Step
10:
Pull the flap on the left and the flap on
the right
outwards, in the direction of the
arrows
Step
11:
First, fold the center downwards over
the outer
lines.
Then fold the center upwards over the
inner lines.
All lines
are prefolded
Step
12:
Fold over these 2 lines
Step
13:
Repeat step 12 on the other 3 petals
Step
14:
Make an
inside reverse fold over these 3 lines.
Do the
same on the other 3 petals
Step
15:
Press the
edges indicated by the arrows flat.
Stick a pencil or your finger in the
opening at
the backside of the flower to make it
easier.
Step
16:
Push the
2 corners indicated by the arrows
downwards. Do the same on the other 3
pink
petals.
Step
17:
Valley-fold the tip of the 4 leaves upwards
a little.
Step
18:
Make
enough of these flowers for one
bonsai flower branch.
Step
19:
This
3x3inch paper is for the leaves,
turn the paper
Step
20:
Valley-fold over these 4 lines,
then turn
the model.
Step
21:
Push the
tip flat between your fingers
by making
an inside reverse fold on
the left and another on the right, see
arrows
Step
22:
Crumple
the leaf by pushing it inwards
over the length, see arrows
Step
23:
Make enough leaves for one arrangement
Step
24:
This 6x6inch paper is for the smaller
stems.
Fold in half over this line
Step

Fold in half

28:
You can crumple the smaller stems too,
to make
them look more realistic, see the final
picture
Step
29:
This paper (two 6inch stripes glued
together)
is for the main stem.
Roll it
up around a piece of metal/florist wire
Step
30:
Press the top of the main stem flat from
all angles.
Step
31:
Crumple the other part of the stem in
your other hand,
see arrows as example.
And wrap
tape around the top of the stem.

32:
Bend/curve the stem, see next picture as
guidance
Step
33:
Glue a smaller stem to the tip
Step
34:
Glue another smaller stem to the tip
Step
35:
Just a few more smaller stems needed to
complete the base of the branch, see
final
picture
Step
36:
Some flowers are glued to the tip of the
smaller stems,
see upper arrow. And some other flowers
are glued on
top of
the stems, see arrow below.
Glue the leaves to the stems to get a
nice full flower
arrangement.
The main
stem is placed in a pot filled
with
florist foam or large paper balls.
This is covered with smaller black paper
balls (origami sand)
