BONSAI
ORIGAMI PLANT WITH FLOWER BUDS
This is how to make a paper Bonsai plant with clusters
of flower buds.

Step 1:
I
used a red 3x3inch paper and a green paper for the buds. Fold in
half over this line.

Step 6:
Valley-fold
over this line
Step 5:
Push
these 2 edges against each other
Step 2:
Prefold
over these 2 lines.
Step 4:
Make
an inside reverse fold over these prefolded lines.

Step 3:
Prefold
over these 6 lines

Step 10:
Valley-fold
the three corners upwards


Step 8:
Valley-fold
the model in half
Step 9:
Press
the corner flat between your fingers, see red arrows. Do the same
with the other two corners
Step 7:
Repeat
steps 4 to 6 on the left

Step 16:
Squash-fold
the flap.
Step 15:
Valley-fold
this flap upwards
Step 12:
Make
enough green and red buds for one plant
Step 11:
Curl
the tip of the leafs outwards a little
Step 14:
First
valley-fold over the 2 lines at the bottom right. Then mountain-fold
over the 2 diagonal lines in the middle. And valley-fold over the 2
lines at the top left.



Step 13:
This
paper is 3x3inch too. Prefold over these 4 lines, then turn the
paper


Step 21:
Valley-fold
the triangular flap upwards
Step 19:
Valley-fold
the edge indicated by the red arrow downwards.
Step 20:
Push/press
the edges downwards.
Step 18:
Unfold
the folds of step 17
Step 17:
Valley-fold
over these 2 lines.



Step 22:
Repeat
steps 16 to 21 on the other three flaps
Step 28:
Glue
the tip on the left inside the opening at the bottom of the bud.
Step 25:
Press
the bottom of the 4 edges flat, see arrows as example.
Step 26:
Make
4 of these parts
Step 24:
Valley-fold
over these 2 lines, do the same on the backside.
Step 23:
Valley-fold
one petal straight upwards. Do the same on the backside.



Step 29:
Glue
all eight (or 4) tips inside the opening of a bud.
Step 27:
The
biggest bunch with buds need 2 of these parts glued together. The
two smaller bunches only need one.

Step 30:
Make
the bunches full by glueing more buds in the remaining gaps.
Step 31:
The
arrows show where I glued the edges of the buds together.
Step 32:
Roll
up two a4 papers together with a metal/florist wire inside. Wrap
tape around the top.

Step 33:
Wrap
a crumpled brown a4 paper around the white stem.
Step 35:
Bend
the stem on a few places, see next picture as guidance

Step 34:
Rotate
the brown paper a few times, see arrow.



Step 36:
This
is the main stem, the base is placed in a pot filled with florist
foam or large paper balls. Make two more of these stems/branches

Step 37:
The
arrows show the main-stem. The other two branches are glued or taped
to this main-stem.

Step 38:
The
three bunches with buds are glued inside the top of the three
branches.
