AN ORIGAMI CHRISTMAS STAR
Both sides of the hexagon shaped piece of paper are coloured.
Step 1:
I bought the paper for this hexagon on a
book-shop.
I made the hexagon shape myself from
this paper.
Make mountain- and valley-folds over the
yellow lines.
Unfold each fold after you made one.
Step 2:
Make the folds in this step from the
edge of the paper
to the center, not any further.
First, make 2 valley-folds at the two
arrows.
Then make a mountain-fold over the lines
next to these
lines that are indicated with an arrow.
Continue making
valley- and mountain folds until the 2
lines on top, on the left.
Step 3:
Fold the piece that is indicated with
the arrow up
by making a valley-fold over the yellow
line.
Step 4:
Press the 2 layers of the piece that
stands upwards
against each other, see the small arrows.
Then flatten the piece by pressing on it
from above,
see the large arrow.
Step 5:
Repeat step 3 and 4 for the other 5
pieces.
Step 6:
Make a valley-fold over these 2 lines.
Step 7:
Unfold the folds you made in step 6.
Step 8:
Fold the piece at the arrow up by making
a valley-fold
over the yellow line.
Step 9:
Flatten the edges that stand upwards by
pressing
on them from above (see arrows).
Step 10:
Repeat step 6 to 9 for the same other 5
pieces
of the model.
Step 11:
Fold all 6 triangular shaped figures
down.
Then, turn the model, with the open side
on top.
Step 12:
Open the model by pulling on the 2 ends
at the arrows.
(Pull the end on the left, to the left
and the end
on the right, to the right).
Step 13:
Fold the triangular shape to
the inside of the model
by making a mountain-fold over the
yellow line.
Step 14:
Close the model again, so it
has the same shape it
had in step 12, but now with the
triangular shape
on the inside.
Step 15:
Repeat step 12 to 14 for the 5
other triangular shapes.
Step 16:
Fold the piece on the right
(see arrow) to the left by
making a valley-fold over the yellow
line.
Step 17:
Fold the end down by making an inside
reverse-fold
over the 3 lines.
Step 18:
On the right in this picture is the end
you folded
down in step 17.
Repeat step 17 for the 5 other ends.
Step 19:
Make an inside reverse fold over these 3
lines.
Step 20:
At the arrow in this picture is the
piece on which you
made the folds of step 19.
Repeat step 19 on the same 5 other
pieces of the
model.
Step 21:
Open the end at the arrow by pressing on
it from above
and below with your fingers.
Do the same on the 5 other ends.
Step 22:
The red piece of the christmas star is
ready...
Step 23:
Now, make a gold coloured star in the
same way as above.
Use a paper that is slightly smaller
than the paper you
used for the red coloured star.
Step 24:
Make the end smaller (see arrows) by
pressing on
it on different places.
Step 25:
Add glue to the end of the gold coloured
star (see arrow
on the left) and place it in the opening
of the red star.
(see arrow on the right).
The origami christmas star is ready!
I think this one looks great in a
christmas tree :)
