ORIGAMI CRAB
This is how to fold an Origami crab out of one paper
square. It's not extremely difficult,
but a pretty cool model.
Step 1:
The
backside of this paper is white. Prefold over these 4 lines.
Step 6:
Press
the 2 layers indicated by the larger arrows against each other. Then
press the loose piece flat from above with your other hand, see
small arrow.
Step 5:
Pull
the piece indicated by the arrow upwards by making a valley-fold
over the purple line.
Step 2:
Make
a valley-fold over these 4 lines.
Step 4:
Make
these folds from the edge of the model to the center, not any
further. First, make 2 valley-folds below, on the right. Then, make
2 mountain-folds in the middle. And make 2 valley-folds on the top
left.
Step 3:
Turn
the model.
Step 10:
Press
the edges indicated by the arrows flat from above.
Step 8:
Unfold
the folds of step 7
Step 9:
Pull
the edge indicated by the arrow downwards by making a valley-fold
over the purple line.
Step 7:
Make
a valley-fold over these 2 lines.
Step 16:
Repeat
step 13 to 15 on the other 3 same triangular pieces of the model.
Step 15:
Push
the 2 ends indicated by the arrows towards each other again, in the
direction of these arrows.
Step 12:
Repeat
steps 6 to 11 on the other 3 flaps
Step 11:
Fold
the triangular piece below the purple line upwards by making a
valley-fold over this purple line.
Step 14:
Fold
the triangular piece above the purple line to the inside of the
model by making a mountain-fold over this line.
Step 13:
Pull
the ends at the bottom of the 2 arrows outwards, in the direction of
these arrows.
Step 21:
Repeat
steps 17 to 20 on the other 3 same places of the model.
Step 19:
Make
a valley-fold over these lines, everything is already prefolded.
Step 20:
Now
you've made an extra end. Fold the end upwards by making a
valley-fold over this line.
Step 18:
Pull
the upper layer of paper loose from the rest of the model at the
places indicated by the arrows.
Step 17:
Push
the pieces on the left and right of the purple line upwards by
making a valley-fold over this line.
Step 22:
Pull
the corner indicated by the arrow upwards by making a valley-fold
over this line.
Step 28:
Make
the same folds as in step 27 on the ends indicated by the 2
larger arrows. Fold the edge indicated by the upper smaller arrow to
the same height as the smaller arrow below. Fold the end on the left
also to the same height.
Step 25:
Fold
the 2 upper ends downwards over this line.
Step 26:
Valley-fold
over these 2 lines.
Step 24:
Repeat
step 22 and 23 on the backside of the model. Make sure that the
model gets an equal amount of flaps on the left and right.
Then turn the model, so a brighter side of the model is upwards.
Step 23:
Press
the corner flat from above, see arrow.
Step 29:
Turn
the model.
Step 27:
Mountain-fold
over the line below and valley-fold over the upper line. Make the
same folds on the backside of the end. You actually just push the
end downwards when you make these folds.
Do the same on the end at the left.
Step 30:
Make
the same folds as in step 27 and 28 on this end, see arrow.
Step 31:
Make
an outside reverse fold over these short lines.
Step 32:
Pull
the tip indicated by the arrow to the inside of the model by
making an inside reverse fold over these lines.
Step 33:
And
push this corner to the inside by making an inside reverse fold over
these short lines.
Step 35:
Turn
the model.
Step 34:
Press
the edges indicated by the arrows inwards.
Step 36:
Press
the leg flat from aside by making a valley-fold over this line. Do
the same on the other 5 legs.
Step 37:
Push
the tip of each leg upwards a little by making valley-folds over
these very short lines.
Step 38:
Valley-fold
over this line. Fold the tip indicated by the arrow below to the
spot indicated by the upper arrow. Then, turn the model.
Done!
