This is how to make a paper Desert Roses Tree in Bonsai
style.
The tree is made of about 20 flowers, 20 leafs, a large stem and 4
branches.
Step 1: The
flower papers are 6x6 inches and darker on the backside. The leaf
papers are 3x3 inches.

Step 6: Fold
both edges together.
Step 5: Fold
along the edge.
Step 2: Fold
in half two times, then unfold
Step 4: Fold
these two spots together.
Step 3: Fold
in half two times in this direction. Unfold the second fold only.
Step 10: Fold
over the prefolded lines, start with the two lines at the bottom
right. Work in the direction of the two arrows.
Step 8: Prefold,
then unfold the model.
Step 9: Fold
the five edges in half 1,2 or 3 times, see purple lines as example.
Then fold the model into a pentagon shape over the prefolded lines.
Step 7: Fold
in half along the edge
Step 16: Fold
the edge in half.
Step 15: Fold
over the prefolded lines.
Step 12: Fold
the tip upwards.
Step 11: Prefold
over these two lines.
Step 14: Pull
/ fold this flap upwards.
Step 13: Press
the model flat.
Repeat steps 11 to 13 on the backside.
Step 21: Curve
the petals and open the center.
Step 19: Squash-fold
the next petal.
Step 20: Squash-fold
the other three petals.
Step 18: Squash-fold
the petal.
Step 17: Fold
the other four same edges in half too.
Step 22: Make
about 20 flowers
Step 28: Make
about 20 leafs.
Step 25: Fold
the left part in half.
Step 26: Fold
a pleat / midrib on the right part and curve it.
Step 24: Fold
over these three lines.
Step 23: Prefold
the leaf paper in half and fold over the two outer lines
Step 29: I
made this large paper by glueing a few normal papers together. It's
enhanced with normal white papers and florist- / metal wire.
Roll up into a large tube shape.
Step 27: Press
the right part a little more flat, if necessary
Step 30: The
upper part of the stem is pressed / twisted together.
Step 31: This
is the bottom of the stem and shows the florist wire.
Step 32: The
upper part of the stem is bended into random directions.
Step 33: The
four smaller branches are made the same way,
rolled up and twisted into a more compact shape.
Using metal- / florist wire is not really necessary for the
branches.
Step 35: The
arrow shows where I glued a branche to the large main stem. Glue the
other three branches to the main stem and then the remaining flowers
and leafs to the upper part of the tree.
Step 34: Here
a branche is bended into random directions.
I
glued the base of the stem to a piece of cardboard.
