Origami Megaloptera Insect
This is a tutorial for folding an insect
with large wings and small body.
Step 1:
One side of the
paper is green and the other is white.
Prefold in half over the four purple lines.
Step 6:
Fold this edge
downwards.
Step 5:
Prefold.
Step 2:
Valley-fold over
the two lines at the bottom right, mountain-fold over the two diagonal
lines. And valley-fold over the two lines at the top left.
Step 4:
Squash-fold.
Step 3:
Fold one flap
upwards.
Step 10:
Fold the triangle
flap to the inside.
Step 8:
Fold the triangle
flap upwards.
Repeat steps 4 to 8 on the other three large flaps.
Step 9:
Pull open, see
arrows
Step 7:
Press the edges
downwards / flat.
Step 16:
Fold the edges
outwards.
Step 15:
Fold over the
purple line.
Step 12:
Fold one edge to
the left
Step 11:
Close the model
again.
Repeat steps 9 to 11 with the other three triangle flaps.
Step 14:
Repeat step 13 on
the left
Step 13:
Make an inside
reverse fold
Step 21:
Make an inside
reverse fold
Step 19:
Open the model, see arrow
Step 20:
Fold the flap
downwards.
Step 18:
Fold the green
edge backwards
Step 17:
Fold both corners
inwards. Make the same folds as the purple lines on the layer below
(valley-folds)
Step 22:
Fold over this purple line.
Step 28:
Fold the tip in
half, see short purple line
Step 25:
Repeat steps 20 to
24 on the left
Step 26:
Fold this corner
inwards
Step 24:
Fold the leg in
half.
Step 23:
Press / fold the
corner flat, see arrows.
Step 29:
Fold the wings
upwards over the yellow line and downwards over the purple lines
Step 27:
Fold over these
two lines.
