FOLDING A PARROT
Only the front of the square piece of paper is coloured.
Step 1:
This is the front of the paper.
Turn the paper.
Step 2:
Make a mountain-fold over the 2 diagonal
lines
and a valley-fold over the other 2 lines.
Unfold each fold after you made one.
Step 3:
Make a valley-fold over the 2 lines
below, on the right.
Then, make a mountain-fold over the 2
lines in the middle.
And make a valley-fold over the 2 lines
on top, on the left.
Now you get a basic-shape.
Step 4:
Make these 2 folds over the upper 2
layers of the model.
Step 5:
Unfold the folds you made in step 4.
Step 6:
Pull the end at the arrow up by making a
valley-fold
over the yellow line.
Step 7:
Flatten the edges on the left and right,
see the arrows.
Use the lines you made in step 4 as
help-lines.
Step 8:
Repeat step 4 to 7 for the back off the
model.
Step 9:
Make an inside-reverse fold over the 2
yellow lines.
You can make these folds easier by first
prefolding over
these 2 lines (making a valley-fold over
these lines
and unfolding).
Step 10:
Fold the end at the back down.
You don't have to make new folding-lines
for this step.
Turn the model.
Step 11:
Make a mountain-fold on the 3 corners.
Step 12:
Make the wing more round, by folding
little pieces of the
corners down (mountain-fold).
Make a mountain-fold on the left and
right of the model.
Now the body of the parrot becomes more
round too.
Step 13:
Fold the model in half.
Step 14:
Make an inside-reverse fold
over the short yellow line.
Step 15:
Fold a part of the black end
to the inside of the model
by making an inside-reverse fold over
the line on the right.
Make the head more round by folding the
2 ends on top
of the model to the inside.
Step 16:
Fold the 2 corners of the
pecker to the inside.
Now the pecker becomes sharper.
Step 17:
Push on the pecker from above and below
(see arrows)
so it becomes a bit curved.
Step 18:
Hold the piece at the small arrow
between 2 fingers
and push the end at the big arrow up,
against your
fingers.
Do the same with the other end.
The parrot is ready!
If you like, you can fold the end of the
tail up,
so the parrot can stand on a table. See
step 18
for instructions.
