A KIRIGAMI SHOPPING BAG
You need 3 square papers of equal size to make
this kirigami shopping bag. The bag below is
not
very big, but you can also fold it from large gift papers with a pretty
pattern on it.
Step 1:
Only the front of this paper is coloured.
Turn the paper.
Step 2:
Make a valley-fold over these 2 lines.
Unfold each fold after you made one.
Step 3:
Make a valley-fold over these 2 lines.
Step 4:
Fold the edges of the paper back to the
outside of the model
by making a valley-fold over these 2
lines.
Step 5:
Add glue to the places indicated with
the 2 lines on top.
Then, fold the model in half over the
line below.
Press on the model until the glue is dry.
Step 6:
Make a valley-fold over this line.
Then, make a mountain-fold over the same
line,
so the model is prefolded well on this
place.
Step 7:
Open the model from above, see arrow.
Then, place the bag upside-down on the
table.
Step 8:
Make a mountain-fold over the 2 purple
lines.
Press the 2 edges on the left and right
(one edge is indicated
with 2 arrows in the picture of step 9)
to one direction while
you make these mountain-folds.
Now the bottom of the bag is flat.
Turn the model.
Step 9:
The first piece of the shopping bag is
ready...
Step 10:
Take another paper of equal size.
The backside of this paper is white.
Make a mountain-fold over the purple
line.
Step 11:
Make a valley-fold over this line.
Make this fold over both layers of the
model.
Step 12:
Make a valley-fold over this line.
Make this fold over all layers of the
model.
Step 13:
Make a valley-fold over this
line.
Make this fold over all layers of the
model too.
Step 14:
Fold the end on the left and
right to the front by just bending
the model on the places indicated with
the 2 arrows.
Then twist the ends a bit around until
they lay horizontal.
Step 15:
Make another handle just like
this one.
Step 16:
Add glue
to the ends of the handle on the right, see the 2 arrows.
Then glue these 2 ends to the inside of
the bag, see the
2 arrows on the left.
Glue the second handle the same way as
above to the other
side of the bag.
The kirigami shopping bag is ready!
