Make an Origami Thistle plant
This is a detailed tutorial for a paper Origami thistle plant with
pink flowers.
Step 1:
Prefold
the flower paper over these four lines.
Step 6:
Prefold
over these two lines.
Step 5:
Squash-fold
the flap.
Step 2:
Valley-fold
the corners to the center.
Then turn the model.
Step 4:
Fold
one flap straight upwards.
Step 3:
First,
valley-fold over the two lines at the bottom right. Then
mountain-fold over the two diagonal lines in the middle. And
valley-fold over the two lines at the top left.
Step 10:
Repeat
steps 4 to 9 on the other three flaps.
Step 8:
Press/push
these edges downwards.
Step 9:
Valley-fold
the triangular flap upwards.
Step 7:
Valley-fold
this edge downwards.

Step 16:
The
two small arrows show the edges of step 15. Pull the upper layer
upwards, see large arrow. Do the same on the edge indicated by the
small arrow on the right.
Step 15:
Fold
these two edges upwards.
Step 12:
Mountain-fold
the triangular flap to the inside of the model.
Step 11:
Pull
these two petals outwards.
Step 14:
Repeat
steps 11 to 13 on the other three triangular flaps.
Step 13:
Push
the two petals towards each other again.
Step 21:
This
petal is one of four which have more paper layers then the other
four.
Make an inside reverse fold over these lines.
Step 19:
Repeat
steps 15 to 18 three more times.
Step 20:
Bookfold
to the left, do the same on the other side.
Step 18:
Now
you've made an extra petal, valley-fold it upwards.
Step 17:
The
arrows show the edges of step 15 and 16.
Valley-fold over these prefolded lines.
Step 22:
Repeat
step 21 on the other three petals with more paper layers.
Step 28:
Fold
the corners to the center.
Then turn the model.
Step 25:
Repeat
step 24 on the four petals with more paper layers.
Step 26:
Done......
Step 24:
Press
each petal flat first, see purple lines as example. Then curl/bend
it upward by rolling it up between your fingers.
Step 23:
Make
an inside reverse fold on the four petals with less paper layers.
Step 29:
First,
valley-fold over the two lines at the bottom right. Then
mountain-fold over the two diagonal lines in the middle. And
valley-fold over the two lines at the top left.
Step 27:
This
paper has the same size as the flower paper.
Prefold over these four lines.
Step 32:
Press/push
the edges downwards.
Step 33:
Valley-fold
the flap upwards.
Step 31:
Valley-fold
the tip downwards.
Step 34:
Repeat
steps 30 to 33 on the other side.
Step 30:
Prefold
over these two lines.
Step 36:
Repeat
step 35 on the other three flaps.
Step 37:
Done....
Step 38:
Glue
both models together.
Step 35:
Pull
the tip downwards by making an inside reverse fold over these three
lines.
Step 47:
Press
the model inwards with your finger on about six places.
Step 46:
Valley-fold
over these two lines.
Step 44:
Here
a short stem is bended / curved to make it look more natural.
Step 42:
Glue
the flower to the top of the main stem.
Step 43:
Only
the main stem has a metal wire inside.
The short stems are rectangular papers which are folded in half a
few times. They are strong enough to hold a flower and/or a leaf.
Step 45:
The
leaf paper has the same size as the flower paper.
Valley-fold over these two lines.
Step 41:
Fold
the paper in half until it's narrow enough.
Step 40:
Fold/wrap
a long rectangular paper around a metal/florist wire.
Step 39:
This
part is glued to the top of a stem.
Step 49:
Turn
the model
Step 48:
Valley-fold
on each edge.
Step 50:
Make
the leaf a little more flat by folding over these lines.
Step 53:
Done.....
Step 52:
Press
the other tips flat too.
Step 51:
Press
the tip flat between your fingers.
All
flowers
and buds are facing upwards, this thistle plant is placed in a vase
filled with pebbles.
